Delivering Final, Fact-Based Decisions in Property Claim Disputes
When insurance appraisers reach a spot, the solution depends on the credibility and transparency of the umpire. As a Texas-licensed Professional Engineer with over 30 years of experience in forensic inspections and construction evaluations, I, Mathew Joseph, P.E., operate as an impartial insurance umpire, bringing probity, understanding, and technical knowledge to the final decision-making step.
I do not execute engineering services or forge new data in this role. My commitment is to estimate the documentation presented by both appraisers and render a professional, impartial conclusion based on the strength, totality, and credibility of each side’s case.
What is an Insurance Umpire?
In property damage altercations, each party designates an appraiser. Before the appraisal process begins, both parties agree on an impartial umpire who will intervene only if the appraisers are unable to reach a mutually agreed-upon valuation.
As the umpire, I:
- Examine all submitted documentation
- Consider the persistence and methodology of each appraisal
- Audit site visits only for context, not investigation
- Generate a final decision based on facts, not assumptions or pressure
I am not an advocate. I am the final voice of resolution.
